I love an excuse to be able to get dressed up! Holidays are the perfect occasion to be able to do just that and Valentine’s Day is no expectation. However, you decided to spend your day there is a perfect look for you, whether you are going on a date, hanging out with gal pals or with family.
For me, we typically go on a date or order in and snuggle while watching a movie. This year, we decided to go out, which called for a new outfit. The key is to find something that you feel confident in. If you feel comfortable in an outfit, you will exude what you are feeling on the inside outwardly.
I love A-lined skirts. This 50s inspired style fits me to a tee. I came across this one last year and new that it would be a perfect addition to my closet. I paired it with a simple top to go with the loud black and white striped print of the skirt. I wanted something sweet and sexy, and I happened across this off the shoulder top and knew that it would go perfectly with the skirt.
I wanted to add a pop of color with jewelry. I love these purple tassel earrings, and thought they would do just that. You could have gone with any pop of color, but I thought the purple was so sweet and a different take than the traditional Valentine’s Day red. Fo my shoes, I decided to go with my favorite pair of black pumps.
I also wanted to get items that I could interchange with different pieces in my wardrobe. That is why I decided to go with separates rather than a dress. My style is a little bit more constative. While I love piece that can lend to be on the sexier side. I know that I would be tugging and pulling at my clothes all night and not be able to focus on the date.
If you are having a low-key Valentine’s Day, I love to incorporate the theme in my clothes. I don’t want to go over the top, because I want to be able to wear it again. I came across this “loved” sweater and thought that it would be perfect for Valentine’s Day. I also knew that I could style it again with shorts or even joggers.
The great thing about the holidays is that you can have fun with your clothing. You can go as literal as you want. For Valentine’s Day, you could wear red pants with a neutral top and even add heart-shaped sunglasses. The possibilities are endless!

Once you have your outfit picked, now it is the time to choose the gift that you want to get for your Valentine. For me, I value something sentimental for Valentine’s Day. Jewelry and flowers are nice, but a thoughtful gift means that the person to the time to make it. This could be a written note or a handmade gift. If that isn’t your thing, pick something that you know your Valentine will appreciate. So, find something that interests them. If your loved one is into gaming, then get them a new game that they want. If your Valentine loves adventures, then get them tickets for a theme park or skydiving. If your girl loves jewelry, find them something that is unique for her.
The key to giving the perfect gift is not to be generic. Don’t go to CVS on Feb. 13th and pick up a stuffed teddy bear and Russian roulette candy heart to give to your loved one. Those are perfect gifts for little girls from their daddy’s, but not for that someone special. If you want to get a bunch of group gifts for a Galentine’s Day, then go with something personalized for each girl. For example, a Galentine’s Day Starbucks cup, a letter necklace, or monogrammed robe. These types of gifts make each girl feel part of the group, while making each on still personal.
